HP ProtectTools Security Manager-. Digital Persona application software for 32 bit Vista and Windows 7. I got the fingerprint reader to work on my tc4400 because that does not require HP ProtectTools Security Suite to work. I even got some components of HP ProtectTools Security Suite to work like the credential manager. The sad thing is that the fingerprint reader will not work with HP ProtectTools in Windows 7 build 7000. Odlly i only got HP ProtectTools Security Suite to work in build 7000. I have not tried it in the RC yet. I just hope HP will support Windows 7 on my tc4400 for when the OS is finally released so than i do not have to create my own drivers or have to use the crummy vista drivers that oddly work with windows 7. I cannot believe microsoft was right about that. I have no idea if anyone is still watching over this particular thread, but i would like a seggestion about this one thing. I started to use HP ProtectTools on Wondows 7 RC since how i liked using the software on Vista and XP. Now that i have been using HP ProtectTools for a few days, it seems like my PC is starting to start up slower and slower, its either that or its just my imagination because the boot sequience does not always appear anymore for some odd reason. This weird issue only started happening yesterday, I get no boot screen at all, and no picture on the screen untill the PC is ready to logon and the users are displayed on the welcome screen. The screen is completely blacked out before then except for the fact that i can see the cursor on the screen which lets me know that the PC is starting up properly. Does anyone know why this issue is happening and know how to fix it or do you guys just think i should just get rid of HP ProtectTools for the remainder of the RC period so that i do not have to rick risking loosing my data or reinstalling my system? Hi Don, Thank you for posting on Microsoft Community. There is a built-in Anti-Virus installed on your device called Windows Defender after you upgrade to Windows 10. Windows defender works just like other anti-viruses that are available in the market. It is not possible to install an anti-virus software when one is already installed on your PC. You have to disable the built-in anti-virus software and install the other. From what I've read ('HP Protect Tools Security Manager' has been renamed to 'HP Client Security Manager', and some (i.e., later) editions are compatible with Windows 7 through Windows 10. Hp Protecttools Security Suite Software Windows 7 64HP does not list later versions of this product on the software download pages of older machines because they (1) haven't tested to confirm compatibility/reliability, and (2) want to discontinue support for older products and hope you will buy new ones. If you dig through HP's product support pages (e.g., Google 'ProBook Windows 10' or some such, then visit the download page for the HP product that results) and/or Softpaq Download Manager tables you will find newer computers that list newer versions of the tools you need or want to upgrade. But CAUTION -- you're doing your own compatibility testing. Best to first unencrypt all your data, backup everything, ensure you can log in to an ADMIN account with just username and password (fingerprint not required), and set restore points before installing or upgrading anything. (But you knew that.) FWIW, the latest edition I've found of HP Client Security Manager is version 8.3.16.2035 dated 2015-09-25, and I found it for a ProBook 455 G3 Windows 10 64-bit. It's Softpaq # 72998.
